Intralot scratchie sales strong

intralot_scratch.JPGThree days in and our Intralot scratchie sales at Forest Hill are better than where they were under the old brand. At Frankston and Watergardens where the category is new for us sales are good but with room to grow. Still little comment about Intralot vs. Tattersalls.

The Intralot launch has been a bit rocky but nothing more than I would expect for a new business. Given some of the hurdles they have had placed before them I’d say they’re doing okay.

1 week in now,and i have been selling lotto products for over 23 years and its the worst scratchie week ive ever had,(5k p/w on average normally… last week, not even $2k p/w)dont quite know how that can be construed as a positive launch!!….Im also interested in that photo as well, have you (or anyone else for that matter)put intralot scratchies in the old tatts scratchie bays,if so how have they been received,if not how do you find the plastic scratchie towers,i think they are a joke!
Would love to be a fly on the wall and know how Tatts received and perceived intralots’ launch…again both companies silence is deafening…and the flak was left for the outlets to handle,in my humble opinion that just shows weak management and leadership from both lottery companies!!

My scratchie sales are about the same as they were with Tatts scratchies. However most customers refuse to play the Intralot games, and are transferring the money they used to spend on Tatts 2, Keno and Wednesday Tattslotto to the remaining Tattersalls games. The reason they give is the pathetic prizes for Keno compared to Tattersalls.

Overall, my lotto sales and commission are about the same, yet my costs have increased because now I have to pay $55 per week to Intralot. What makes this worse is the non-existent support that Intralot offers, the machine’s performance is slow, and the scanner won’t work. When I finally got through to Intralot to complain about the scanner, they didn’t offer any help at all.

It is no surprise, as the government promised we would be better off. You can bet that all government promises will be broken.

Helen - The placement of the Intralot machine and scratchies is extremely inconvenient in my shop, however that will be fixed when I do my Tatts enforced shop fit soon. I have heard of other outlets putting the scratchies in the Tatts section. I know of one outlet that had their Tatts terminal turned off as a result.

Thanks for that Dean, isnt it a shame that common sense would help to solve 85% of the placement and teething problems, but neither lotto provider seems to know what common sense is.I would still love to know the legal viewpoint on what we can put in our own owned counters, irrespective of “the dedicated zone”tatts keep hiding behind,it an is anticompetitive action and directive and i believe will be found to be so when eventually tested!

Interesting as well the timing of the changes on Tatts website that advertise more clearly and bolder, their own online purchase division rather than their retail partners, must be a coincidence that timing as well!

I also just sent another request to the accc for an opinion about tatts’ request(threat) for us to “rebrand” their supposed area if we want to sell intralot products and continue to have our tatts terminals on, because tatts say the colours of the fixtures we currently paid for ,own and use is “in their colours”,well im sure there is recent precedent in the decisions relating to the long running dispute between cadburys and darrell lea and the colour purple. It tells us that NO ONE,not even tatts can lay claim to owning a colour,so again the accc needs to protect us from these anticompetitive practises (illegal in my opinion) tatts is trying to employ.

    hi,
I was wondering if anyone can advise me about a altercation I have with tattersalls. I have been a tatts outlet at my current location for many years now with strong sales figures but have recently found out that Tattersalls has approved for another outlet to relocated only 7 stores down on the same st from my store. From my store outside I can clearly see this relocation site. I have tried to contact the retail manager with no reply. Therefore, I was wondeering can anyone please advise me about my rights and who to complain to? Any advice would be much appreciated thank you.

    Ken,

Document your complaint to the Commissioner for Small Business. This will bring Tattersalls to the mediation table.

Thanks Mark for your reply. I will take your advice and make a complaint, hopefully tattersalls will come to the mediation table and make a fair decision.
