As a result of internal miss-communication, some newsagents have been told by call centre staff at St.George / Bank SA that they need to be a member of the ANF to access the St.George merchant service rates I negotiated for newsagents. Newsagents do not need to be a member of the ANF. All you need is to tell the call centre staff you are a Tower newsagent and the excellent rates are yours. It would be wrong to require you to be part of an association to access rates I negotiated on behalf of all newsagents.
St.George eftpos rates are for ALL newsagents

So just to clarify, you must be a Tower newsagent to get the rate?

is there a option of eftpos terminal to run on high speed broadband feed instead of traditional phone line

Clem: The fees I negotiated are available to ALL newsagents, not just Tower newsagents.
ROOP: for a broadband eftpos offer go with the Tower PCEftpos integration. This runs through your Tower software back to St.george.

mark when i spoke to st george they said i only had the choice of an argent connection or dial up for intergrated eftpos. this is what has stopped me from signing up with st george and integrating eftpos with retailer as I’d prefer to use my existing broadband connection and get rid of the eftpos phone line and not have to pay line rental.
so i can sign up for integrated eftpos and run it over existing broadband?

Thats the same we wana do ScottM . Infact we want a standalone broadband feed eft terminal . let us know if know a similar product

http://www.tyro.com i have not researched them much but i beleive they have standalone and integrated eftpos which run over broadband. however not compatible with integration with retailer from what i can see. be sure to compare terminal rental and fees

Scott,
We are talking with Tyro. We want to see some questions answered before we move forward. We have a stringent due diligence process.

mark was i misinformed by st george that we could only use argent or dial up. i havent heard of any bank or any company other than tyro who is using eftpos over broadband.

Scott, We do Eftpos through broadband when it is integrated through our Retailer software.

yep thats what i told them, i would be integrating the terminal with retailer, and i spoke to them about broadband and they said no, the terminal can be integrated with retailer fine, but can only perform transactions using a dial up or argent connection. since they told me that, i didnt go ahead with upgrading retailer to be integrated with pceftpos

I just then got off the phone from St George and the girl was insistent that i either had to be an ANF member or a tower system user. I mentioned what was said here and still said that there’s no way i can get the special rates if i wasn’t either of those things. Being a smaller newsagency i don’t have either so i can’t get the special rates. Is there anyone in particular i can speak to at St George that can help me get around this?
Thanks

Their advice is wrong. Tell them you are a Tower newsagent. No proof is necessary. Mark

Thanks for the reply Mark. I did actually say i was a Tower user and she said that i had to send them some sort of paper to prove that i in fact was. I’m certainly not questioning anything you’re saying as you’ve obviously struck this deal. I just wanted to point out what i was told to you and other agents in case they encounter the same problem. I’ll call back later or on Monday and hopefully i get to speak to somebody who’s been fully briefed on the whole situation.

St.George management assure me they have told staff to NOT ask for proof. I will go back to them on this.

Thanks again for that Mark i look forward to hearing what they have to say. I haven’t yet called back to try again and have decided to let it go until Monday. If it’s any help i was forwarded to a girl named Zara who was the one that told me i’d need to send the Tower member proof.

Did anyone look through the offer by St George Bank?
Apparently, if you mentioned ANF, your “Minimum Fee” is NIL and if you mentioned TOWER, your “Minimum Fee” is A$38.50cts. When we asked them for an explanation, they choose not to reply to us at all.

we have taken St George deal under Tower Grp a week or so before BillExp collapse.
In our docs, there is no minimum mthly service fee, if that is what you are referring to.
Since knowing about ANF getting a commission from St Geo/Suncorp, we rang our rep back to reconfirm that we are under Tower Grp and not ANF.
He asked whether that made a difference and we said yes and explained why. He then say he’ll pass the explanation up to his seniors.

It seems that a lot of marketing rep from St George calling every newsagency for the offer (after bill express collapse). So, I suppose any newsagent will be able to receive the rates.

we are independent supermarket/fresh produce and are Stgeorge eftpos customers. However we are trialling broadband connection through
Cadmus /Bendigo Bank -is working very well so far.
