Isn’t the NRL season half over?

nrl_2008.JPGThe folks at Network Services played a joke on Victorian newsagents Friday sending out boxes of the NRL 2008 select album and card packs. Not only is the NRL season more than half over but this is Victoria! NRL products don’t sell down here. Yet we still received four boxes. My guess is they decided to sent returned or spare stock to Victoria because to keep it in their warehouse would have burned their cash. There is certainly no business case for us receiving four boxes at Forest Hill. Newsagents need a magazine czar, blah, blah, blah… Oh, and there ought to be a rule about sending unbarcoded stock - the majors would reject unbarcoded product.

You are kidding me right? We rang for reorders last week and told no more stock. The mind boggles.

[scratches head trying to contemplate why NRL products would be sent to victoria]

Its not only the majors. The independant supermarket and convenience store warehouses don’t accept unbarcoded stock either -haven’t for many years.

While there is the odd magazine or product such as the NRL folders, stationery is by far the worst category. We have rejected products before, from both warehouses and individual suppliers, simply because of the lack of a barcode.

Its a basic standard, not an optional extra.

Brett, who are you getting your cards through?

Last year we foud we couldn’t get stock from Network so we decided to get it all from JHL Marketing. You have to pay freight (so try and order in larger quantities) but the service is great.

    JHL!

Don’t know then. We received albms from them 5 or so weeks ago.

Try contacting Select themselves. We have been able to get stock from them in desperate circumstances before.

Or you could just wait until July 28. I believe there is a new range of albums and cards being released then (don’t quote me on there being new ablums though).
