Tax pack in newsagencies

fhn_tax_pack_09.JPGNewsagents around Australia have the Tax Pack available now.  To better handle the customer queries this week and next, our team has placed the Tax Pack in an easy to access location in a small display with financial year diaries.  While we are giving over valuable retail real-estate to this loss leader, we know from past experience this this placement provides better customer service and is appreciated by our customers.

Surely this isn’t allowed. The letter coming with the packs states they have to be kept behind the counter and only supplied on request.

Chris, we do not have enough room for the volume required these two weeks. We watch this space and ensure people do not take bulk quantities. For the tiny sum newsagents are paid from the deal I feel it is fair to at least reduce the costs to use for providing the service.

We are the same, I refuse to have staff tied up handing out tax packs and coping the endless tax question as to what they may need. I appreciate the extra traffic flow but they are not really new customers and they rarely buy something additional because we have them.

Andrew, For years we have done this display for a brief period so that we can properly handle the volume of requests without interrupting the paying side of our business.
