How are you going to carry this around, it won’t fit in your pocket like the iphone. Where does this device fit in, do you throw the phone away or the laptop.

it is a replacement for all print media. a consumer would download their morning paper onto it and take it with them on the bus.

the reason this news has made a newsagency blog, is because the customer wouldnt need to come into the newsagency anymore (except to get change for the bus), it is a threat to our businesses. not the phone/computer shop business.

It doesn’t seem much bigger than a newspaper or magazine to carry around. In fact I would prefer people to use these on the train than a newspaper, they could fit 10% more people in. There’s an idea for Metro!

The real innovation around the iPad will come in the form of partner announcements over the next weeks and months.

    Paul,

That’s the thinking coming through from the online community once the initial hype is filtered out. Most people will still need their phone and laptop … making the iPad another device they have to carry around (and having three different devices defeats the purpose of portability).

And as expected the device is expensive. For its limited application the iPad is certainly not cheap in comparison to smartphones or e-readers already on the market.
