You’ll notice an ad to the right. We are playing with Google Adsense to see what happens. With between 1,200 and 1,500 visitors a day, Google feels that there is a revenue opportunity. We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks after which I will decide whether the ads stay. In the meantime, we are likely to play with style changes to see what works best.

Not sure it’s a good idea to promote cheap magazine subscriptions in this blog! Cosmopolitan is being advertised from magshop as I write this.
This is why I say play Chris. We turned this on half an hour ago and already we are making a change to a different style of ad which should be up later today.

I have no problem with you getting some revenue for all the effort you put in here.
Early this week, I was just thinking about why you have put Adsense onto here. Now, you have and I am glad. I don’t mind the ads (got used to it by now). It not much but some revenue for your effort and your time.
Off topic a bit – could you move the captca before the SUBMIT button. On a few occasions, I pressed submit button without putting in the captcha text. The posts got lost.

how do these ads work? Does the advertiser pay if i click on the ad? If so i might start clicking on a certain ad!

There is a small fee per click. I’d urge you to not clck unless the ad is of genuine interest. Google has methods of checking to ensure the pay per click ads are not abused.
