Interesting Hallmark range and merchandising in Manila

wrap-manila.JPGI got to see a broad range of Hallmark products in my retail tour of Manila.  From trinkets to bags, the range of Hallmark products was excellent and interesting.  They did not have sheeted wrapping paper like we do.  Instead, there was a large range hung as shown in the photo.  The photo captures only a fraction of the Hallmark wrap range.  Can you see the range of gift cards above the wrap – very nice.

Walking the aisles of this stationery and bookshop I could see an excellent range of wrap, gift bags, gift cards, gift tags, bookmarks, gift items and greeting cards – all Hallmark branded.  It was kind of like a Hallmark store within a store. Fascinating.

Do you have any more pics of hallmark display and range? it looks quiet nice even the small giftcards are a bit different and there looks to be a good selection..It would be nice to have something different from hallmark and I’d be willing to test it out if they brought some of the range to oz.

they also provide giftwraping where u can mix and match ribbons/wraps…all by the meter

Just wondering if anyone else has hassles with Hallmark? We’re always having issues, from credits not applied to the account, merchandisers who try to overstock me, account managers who are useless and then disappear without head office even having the courtesy to notify me, stock arriving that I haven’t asked for etc etc the list goes on.

Do I have a devious merchandiser/account manager combo? Or is this a normal occurrance and I’m just being difficult?

As an example, had 12 boxes of new stock arrive last week, am returning 6 boxes. Three boxes are for stock I don’t carry anyway, the other three are either cards for pockets that are already stocked or duplicates of other cards in the order.

    Arrgh!!

Vicki, have you escalated this to your state manager? Like any company, Hallmark has escalation processes.

Yep, but he’s not a lot of help. Seems like its all too much hassle for him to sort out. The perils of being a small retailer!!

Thinking of taking on the ordering and merchandising myself rather than letting Hallmark have any input, but until I get an area/account manager I can’t, cause I need the merchandisers to do the returns.

I’m assured they’ll have a new guy soon, but the last two were duds so I’m not hopeful. Its been nearly two years now since I had a decent area rep/manager.
