Any newsagents out there had experience with QCAT on a retail lease dispute?

I’d be interested in hearing from any newsagents in Queensland who have taken a tenancy dispute to QCAT recently.  I have experience with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner and VCAT in Victoria for these matters and I want to compare the process to that available in Queensland.  Click here to find our about the QCAT shop lease disputes process.

I am surprised by the lack of response given the number of QLD newsagents who complain to me about landlords.

    Hi Mark

I have not used their services… However,am currently working with the Retailers Association about a rental review.

To be honest I am none the wiser about who I should be speaking/complaining to…

We have a rent review clause that gives the landlord up to 12months post market review to determine the rent. They are adopting the ostrich strategy and not respnding to calls, e-mails… I intend to get a true rent, but it will probabaly take the full 12 months… Dont know if I should or can lodge a complaint in anticipation?

    Cheers

    Peter
