If you bank with ANZ…

A few weeks ago the ANZ Bank whacked retailers, including newsagents, with an increase in EFTPOS fees. Last week they increased small business loan rates as well as home loan rates. Along they way they have continued to charge hefty fees at every opportunity from overdrafts to account fees.

Newsagents who want to reduce the fees they pay to the ANZ could consider switching to Tyro broadband EFTPOS. My own Tower Systems newsagency software and the pos solutions software both link to Tyro. It’s faster than a bank terminal, more accurate, easier to reconcile and often has lower costs.

Our local ANZ is closing for a week for renovations. There is no other arrangements in place for their business customers other than a 3 hr round trip to the next closest branch. Being that many of our suppliers direct debit us and we cannot deposit for the week, we are in a bind. Poor form ANZ, its not like we don’t pay a fortune in fees and interest every month.

I moved away from ANZ years ago, when I wanted to renegotiate my loan. I was borrowing less and yet they were charging a higher interest rate. I enquired with the area manager as to why, and was told that my business wasn’t BIG enough!

That was the thanks I got for paying down my loan quickly and trying to get ahead.

I am now with a credit union and have a wonderful relationship with the store manager, who is there everyday and opens the door and greets each customer personally.

    Shop around!

we moved our accounts from ANZ last year to CBA mainly because of the behaviour of the staff at the closest branch…
the local CBA branch has been fantastic, and we are building a great relationship with them.

last school holidays the manager took my son to look at the safe, he is 7 years old and thought the robbers would get his money….. after seeing how safe it was and how easy it is to get your money from the ladies at the counter, he has been saving like crazy (which means if he sees any coins around they are his)

I agree you Peter. I’ve had very positive dealings with the CBA. When I got better EFTPOS rates quoted from elsewhere they sharpened theirs to be better. They were happy to renegotiate one of my loan terms which was secured against the business and I get absolutely great service from the local branch. Considering I’m not even a “big” small business (Strip shopping centre news and postoffice) they have been pretty good to me all the way so far.
