I don’t eat peppers but I wanted to buy some

No, I don’t eat peppers but I sure felt like buying them when I saw this display when I visited a Whole Foods Market at Union Square in New York yesterday. From the power to the petter sign to the colourful display with is excellent visual merchandising.

Based on what I have seen this trip, this display is a Whole Foods Market standard for peppers.

These are capsicum aren’t they? I cook with them all the time, fresh in salads, cooked in sauces, however I can prepare them.
Chillies are even better but used far more sparingly. Yum.
Must go make some of my special pasta sauce now which has plenty of both in it.

Brendan, they are also called bell pepers in American cook books – The Moosewood Cookbook by Mollie Katzen is a great one if you enjoy cookery books as much as cooking.
Maybe you could bottle your special sauce and sell it in your newsagency! Much better mark up than papers and gambling.

Also Mark – The Enchanted Broccoli Forest – sorry I know it has nothing to do with newsagencies but it has the best ever pepper recipe – potato cheese & chilli soup.

GG files arrived here but I only just checked so I don’t know when they arrived.
Jenny, I make my sauces a little too spicy for the taste of many people. It has taken years for my wife to say “that’s spicy but nice” rather than “why do you make it this hot”…an acquired taste I suppose.
Mark, is cheese a weakness of yours????
I’m hungry again after reading this thread……

Brendan, one of many unfortunately. Cheese makes anything taste good. Cheese and chocolate.

See my post just now re the Gotch issue.

Cheese is awesome! I love it more than chocolate!

The capsicum display looks good. Too few aussie retailers neglect to display their fresh produce effectively.
