Today is going to be crazy for plenty of newsagents

Today will be just about the biggest day of card and gift sales of the retail year for plenty of newsagents. If it is like other Saturdays before Mother’s days many newsagents will do ten, even twenty times their usual Saturday card sales. And plenty of those will do just as much in gift sales. It will also be a day of excellent magazine sales as magazines make a great Mother’s day gift!

So, as you strap on your armour, lead up with caffeine and paint on your happy face think about the joy you’re bringing shoppers, they work you;re giving your team and the money you’ll make.

Today is a good day in retail. Enjoy!

Looking forward to a busy and fun day.

Yesterday (Friday) overall sales up 115% over 10 week Friday average. Cards up 330%. Gifts to card ratio 49%.

Repeat that today and I will be cleaned out!

    Yay for Mothers’ Day.

Today is one of those days where you show people who don’t normally shop with you that it is a great experience. Not just a transaction. This is our main point of difference.

Great day, make that 3 great days!

With Saturday sport, a cold day plus Mothers Days tomorrow it was constant from open to close.

Cards were all about Mums and Nans but gifts were a mixture of Mothers Day and plush.

I am still amazed at how much is spent on kids when they are just out shopping, not birthday or pocket money just ‘this is so cute can I have it pleeease’.
