For Arts Sake cards at 50% off at Australia Post

auspostcardsdiscountAustralia Post has For Arts Sake cards at 50% off up until October. The offer excludes Christmas cards and Father’s Day cards when they had them out. I am not sure who is funding this discount. regardless, it is disappointing that government owned and protected retail businesses are so aggressively taking sales from small business newsagencies.

This is poor small business policy in action.

Yes, I get that Australia Post is run at arm’s length from the government. however, politicians control the act under which this massive retail network operates, they control how far Australia Post encroaches on our small businesses.

If I had my way, Australia Post would divest itself of all corporate stores with small business newsagents having first right of refusal on acquisition.

I’m glad I got rid of For Arts Sake last year from my control. Shameful of Australia Post and it wouldnt surprise me if FAS are giving them further discount to do this.

You are probably right Jon in saying that FAS are subsidizing Australia Post’s discount in their corporate stores, however I can assure you that no subsidy is provided to Licencees that participate in these discounts, if we do then it is at our own cost.

Tyrone their double standards are galling. Their government owned outlets hurt small businesses including their own LPOs.

John Sands do this in Woolworths stores every June or July also.

It would seem the card company is funding this rather than Australia Post.

Mark, if you want to see how galling APs double standards are have a look at what was found out about APs operations and dealings with LPOs and Frnachisees as part of the Senate Inquiry that has just handed down its findings. http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Environment_and_Communications/Australia_Post_in_Australian_communities/~/media/Committees/ec_ctte/Australia_Post_in_Australian_communities/report/report.pdf

Interesting Paul. Move the dates forward 7-8 years and the graph on page 47 looks similar to what newspaper sales and revenue would be. We need to learn from this.

Both John Sands and For Art Sake are defiantly funding the Huge Mark Downs in Woolworth s and Australia Post. Do they actually realize they are then destroying there own businesses
