News Corp. Adelaide Advertiser out of touch with newsagents

Screen Shot 2015-02-17 at 1.04.58 pmI am told there is a radio ad playing in Adelaide at the moment promoting the terrific Disney Storybooks on offer with the Adelaide Advertiser. It encourages people to shop at Coles, Woolworths and Newspower. With the majority of SA newsagents not in Newspower it makes no sense that News Corp. calls out that brand. On their website for the Disney promotion shoppers can search by postcode. I searched for the West Lakes area and it’s an example of how out of touch the radio ad is – no Newspower stores but plenty of other newsagencies.

How can News Corp. sell more newspapers – work better with newsagents and understand your retail network. This ad is ridiculous.

How Many LIES can you tell in 1 article Mr. Fletcher.
Sensationalise the truth at the expense of the Newsagency Industry is unfortunately your all too common theme.

Darren, let me know what I have written that is a lie as you call it. The ads are on air – newsagents have told me. They are promoting the three named parties – according to newsagents. Or, are you unhappy with me saying this is a terrific promotion.

Darren, don’t know what planet you’re on, it was definitely an advertisement on radio.
Of course Newscorps involvement with the supermarkets more and more wouldn’t be at the expense of the Newsagency channel in your eyes would it?

@Darren, I don’t believe Mark is lying, he is simply expressing how he sees the issue.

OTOH, I am pleased that the ad mentions Newspower as Newspower and The Advertiser have a strong relationship and some similar promos (Mr Men, AFL cards) are exclusive to newspower. And, as a Newspower member, I get a far greater allocation of the Disney books than the local Colesworths. In fact, at only 10 – 20 copies a day, I wonder why Colesworths bother.

David it is ignorant of News to single out a minority of newsagencies like this. It is contrary to what News execs said they would do nationally.

My post reflects what I have been told by frustrated SA newsagents.

All they needed to add was “and selected newsagents”.
It happens all the time and it is infuriating

I am sorry to advise but the Mr Men, AFL and other Advertiser promotions are NOT exclusive to Newspower! We are NOT a Newspower and we have participated in EVERY promotion that The Advertiser have run, you are NOT special being Newspower!!

Even though The Advertiser may say exclusive to Newspower Newsagents they are not .

We are newsXpress , not Newspower I would prefer The Advertiser either name all the marketing groups or just say available at your local Newsagent

Shaun previous promotions have been advertised in their newspaper quoting available at Newspower Newsagents. I don’t want to be aligned with them

The image included in the post is a screen cap from the website. I did a search for retail outlets in the West Lakes area and included the results for people to see. This shows a disconnect between the website and what they are advertising on radio.

The issue I see is not the alignment with any marketing group but the fact that Newspower were mentioned yet the other marketing groups were not. News Ltd need to respect all agents. I am a Newspower agent and if the shoe was on the other foot I would be upset if Nextra etc were mentioned and we weren’t. I would be emailing my News Ltd rep and also my marketing group for answers as to why you were not included.
