3D printer partwork interest strong in the newsagency

2e8ac73b-0ff0-44e4-8604-1dcbe70a32b4Our pre-release promotion of the Build Your Own 3D Printer partwork is driving interest. We are promoting this with partworks as well as near a range of items appealing to male shoppers we suspect are the target market for this partwork launch.

We are also using social media to reach outside the business to promote tis title ahead of the launch. I see it as a terrific opportunity.

Even though the title will not be out for three weeks we are making the most of the opportunity today as it is a point of difference for us.

It launches in June. It’s expected to do well with geeks. Done well in the UK.

    Does the math add up?
I realise there is a magazine to go with it, but $1500 for an entry level 3D printer seems steep when you can buy a higher spec’d one cheaper and have it arrive in one peice.

Seems a crazy price to me to 500-1000 and you have one

If it has done well in the UK its worth promoting, if you end up with a couple of putaways at 25% of $1,800 it’s worthwhile.

We only received 2 copies of 1st edition, sold 1 and 2nd has been handled 3-4 times

It’s great to have the putaway’s Matt, but as the series goes on, as usual, the cuts will come, and it will be a fight with the disty to get the stock required to keep up with the putaways. Happens every time.
They don’t look at Xchangeit data to see who is sellling and who isn’t.
I generally spend a fair bit of time chasing up and managing putaways for partworks. It’s never easy.

But hey I already have 1 putaway, so i’ll have a crack at managing this one on behalf of the disty as well….

I would have thought buying any sort of technology with a 2 year lead time in this day and age is fraught with danger. Would you buy a phone today that will only be functional in two years time – I would have though 12 months is a stretch in terms of technology life cycle.
