Range vital to adult colouring success in the newsagency

IMG_9205This photo is a second display of adult colouring art therapy titles in our newsagency. It is located half way into the store. It sits in front of the magazine department to the right, our plush wall to the left and stationery on the wall on the far left.

We have cleared space in front of the display (not seen in the photo) so the full range of adult colouring titles is easily seen and shopped. Customers in wheelchairs and motorised scooters can come in and shop – these are valuable customers for this category of product.

The range on show has been selected to cater to people from teens through to 80+, boys and girls. This is important. In the early days retailers thought adult colouring was a thing for girls 30+. It’s not. We are selling for people of all ages. It is a fun category, we are learning plenty.

We have been in the adult colouring space all year and are enjoying excellent results still. We are watching sales because current sales will not continue. Knowing when to scale back will be important for business.

Is it possible to post/email the suppliers for ‘enchanted forest’ and best colouring books in sydney CBD.We want to place an order but not aware of suppliers.

Also please post updates regarding this or any new niche titles and gifts. because many newsagents are not aware of anything other than network and gordon gotch magazine suppliers.

Ant suggestions for father’s day gifts?

Madhan, The challenge with your query is that there are newsagency marketing groups like newsXpress, Newspower and nextra that provide their members with access to negotiated relationships with suppliers in the gift, calendar, toy, homewares and other spaces. It would disrespect members of a group for a group to share that information publicly.

On the Enchanted Forest, as others here have already mentioned, you can speak to Brumby Sunstate. As an individual, the deal may not be the same but access is there.

My I suggest you integrate coloured pens and pencils into your display. We sold more tins of Derwent Pencil in a month than what we did in two years.

Dean this is our second display. The first, closer to the front of the shop, has pencils, erasers and other products this shopper purchases.
