Launching the Art Therapy partwork in the newsagency

IMG_9693Here is how we are launching the Art Therapy partwork at Knox today. We have located the floor display unit next to the colouring book ‘department’ – with 22 adult colouring titles – that has been moved to the lease line, facing into the busy shopping mall.

We also have stock of Art Therapy located near art titles further into the business. Plus we are promoting the launch online to people mobile nearby.

With adult colouring titles everywhere, range is key – hence our placement of the best range in the centre at the front of the business and a secondary display deeper inside.

    Mark,

I received an email from GG saying all stock is exhausted and that we can place an order for customers but it will not be delivered until a “later stage”which means months. The best option is for Tony to ring around and hope someone still has some stock.

    Cheers

We didn’t receive any of this partworks because of “issues with our account”.

The issue was we paid our account in full and on time, but Gotch failed to allocate the payment correctly, so they stopped our account due to non-payment.

Not only did we not receive this partwork and now can’t backorder it, but we also didn’t get weekly magazines for a week.

Of course no-one at Gotch can tell us what is going on, and they all pass the buck to another department.

Apparently our complaint (I mean “feedback”) has been passed on to management.

On top of lost sales, we have spent a considerable amount of time explaining to customers and subagents why we can’t supply them their New Idea or That’s Life, which in the eyes of the customer makes us look like the bad guys.

    Thanks Gotch! NOT

I am in Western Australia and found my 2 copies at a newsagent that few people know about. Try getting it that way. The first issue IS going to be reprinted in about 4 months but they don’t know how many copies they will print.

Wanting a copy in Sheidow Park/Hallett Cove – all sold out. Been to many shops but to no avail. Happy if they do a reprint in future. Not keen to get next copy due next Monday if missing out on Issue 1 🙁 Can understand they may not have expected such popularity !!

My newsagent inform me today that they couldn’t get back issues as they had tried for others, as it’s been so popular.

P.s. Is it possible to order online the series? It’s a pain going to unhelpful newsagents.

Karen, newsagents can only provide as good a service as the publisher an distributor permit. In the case of partworks such as this one, sales have overwhelmed everyone. By going direct you hurt all newsagents.

Karen’s last comment is the exact reason I’m so pissed off with partworks. We have no control over supply but the customer blames us and thinks its our fault. When a newsagent can’t deliver the service a customer want’s its the newsagent who looks bad not the arsehole publisher limiting supply and it hurts our image.

    Amen Steve.

Karen’s frustration is echoed amongst the community and newsagents alike.

We lost a customer recently who had purchased over 50 partworks series from us over the past ten years. He would spend over $50 EVERY week on partworks. At some stages it was closer to $100. Once a week, he drove 25km, passing over 15 other newsagents to come to our store because he could always get his artworks with us.

He now subscribes because G&G and Network could not supply us with what we requested.

This is not a new problem. It has existed since Partworks series began. It has not improved, and never will whilst G&G and Network distribute these titles to newsagents. An adequate solution has not been found, and these distributors damage the brand and good will of ALL newsagencies because of repeated inadequate supply.
