Anger at Woolworths loyalty changes

IMG_1629Woolworths shoppers have been venting frustration with changes to the loyalty program. The comments on Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere remind of the personal connection people have with loyalty programs.

From what I understand I’d have to spend $100 a week for five weeks at Woolworths to get a free magazine whereas in my newsagency shoppers can get this value spending well under $100.

One of my customers just spent $305.00 at Woolies and got $0.55 bonus. If they had spent that here on say magazines they would have received $41.22!

Today I noticed that they had big rewards on their cartridges and bigger retail prices than usual. The retail price had increased by the amount of the reward.

I offer a discount voucher scheme on everything in store with a real margin, the offer varies depending on the product sold and the quantity sold so there is no “fixed percentage” – I have stolen a lot of the sales back from Woolies and mag sales are up YOY

Woolies and coles have not received their magazines today YET . It is hard to be sorry about it when a customer comes in all broken hearted about not being able to buy them from a supermarket . My reply is great
