It’s been interesting watching the debate on a couple of the model builders forums as to whether it’s worthwhile collecting this or not. Big bugbear in the room at the moment is the imminent release of some large scale kits from manufacturers such as Revell and Dragon that while not quite as big as this may be better detailed and over all cheaper (Revell kit arriving on the shelves in the next few weeks is RRP circa $650 ) and whether the part works will be supplied on time or completely with many interested saying the only way to guarantee this is direct subscription. Little bit of a sore point considering how many of us have had difficulties with partworks supply previously and interesting to see how guarantee of supply is percieved.

How far in to the 100 issues is the supply going to dry up ?
From past experience with partworks I feel lots of ppl will feel duded.
I really do hope I’m wrong.

I have seen a big trend lately with partworks where publishers and suppliers intentionally restrict or withhold supplies of later issues in order to force people to subscribe to the partwork in order to get the whole thing.

Distributors argue that its the publishers (who are often located overseas) who are responsible. I think distributors should start telling publishers that unless the publisher can gaurantee supply of the entire partwork, the distributor wont carry the partwork at all (it hurts the distributors just as much as the retailers when supplies of latter issues are unavailable)

Jonathan I have met with publishers myself. I side with the distributors on this. It is not helped by how some newsagents engage.

My local newsagent are pretty good at making sure they keep up with customer demand. But at the moment they are supposedly unable to get issues 5 and 9 at all. And it wasn’t just that newsagent, all other newsagents around town can’t get them either. Funny thing is, those two issues feature the electronics board for the cockpit lights in issue 5 and the battery pack in issue 9. Maybe that has something to do with it. It’s on backorder but I dunno if I should continue collecting this or not.

Frank , for what it’s worth now is probably the time to make the decision one way or another before you commit too much cash for that to make the decision for you.

If all you’re looking for is a large scale Millenium Falcon Revell is releasing one in kit form (about 940 parts off the top of my head) soon for about a quarter of the price of the part works though at a smaller (1/72) scale. It is still a big kit just not quite as big !

I’m happy to report I finally got issue 5 today along with issues 16 and 17 🙂 Kudos to my local Newso 😀
Also got issue 9 a while ago with issue 12 or so.

Better late than never. So now have all issues up to date.

I am not taking part in any more part works, especially those that rely on having the whole set. I got badly burned with the military watches, where 2 good customers failed to get one part and took an immense amount of effort to placate. Now I have a customer missing 2 parts of the Build a 3d Printer, which despite repeated reorders are yet to turn up.

No more part works. The latest Marvel are still in their box, have not been displayed, will be scanned out and returned this weekend. These are low margin products, that take up too much room and give inordinate amounts of grief.

    Totally fed up with GG

Theo, last issue received here was 18 on 30 June. Not sure what’s going on but hope you get a response from G&G.

Last issue I received was 18, but there was also a flyer with it that advises of shipping delays.

“Due to unforseen shipping delays for issue 19 onwards, we have been forced to delay the onsale dates as shown below:

    Issue 18: Onsale 30 June
    Issue 19: Onsale 21 July
    Issue 20: Onsale 28 July
    Issue 21: Onsale 04 August

I’m a bit confused at the shipping delays. So they are still trickle feeding us from the UK? I thought all issues were here in Australia and the supplier was sending them out as set subscriptions 4 issues at a time to make it affordable. Kinda frustrating as I have blown $250 on a second subscription I was getting through my local newsagent, all good until issue 13 and nothing for the last 6 weeks. Also I have a bad feeling about my mail order subscription, I will have to check what issue I am upto but I don’t think it is anywhere near 18. Can I get refund on the $250 for the issues from the newsagent. Starting to wonder whether I should opt out too as it’s a bit less than professional. Geeeezzzzzz I wonder why the Australian consumer buy’s online from the overseas market DUUUHHHH. Cause it’s more reliable and the customer service is way better.

I am up to issue 27. I cannot go any further without issues 9 & 10 which are on back order with my local newsagent, I’ve gone too far now not to continue with the build. Will i ever get these two issues?

Bill you should. Ask your newsagent to ask the distributor, Gordon and Gotch. If they get no joy, ask them to get in touch with me privately and I will escalate it for them and for you.

Gee some of you are lucky. Here we are in April 2017 and into the 50’s with current issues and still waiting for 3, 4, 9, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20.

Once this is done and I am never touching part works BS ever again.

We are now up to issue 98. How will newsagent customers get issue 100A, which is the missing greeblies issue. Subscribers get it automatically supposedly, but what about those of us religiously buying this thing for the past 2 years?
