What is the point of the ANF marketing?

Cf0TthHWcAAGRWw.jpg-largeThe ANF is pitching this ad on social media. I guess they are doing this so they can say they promoting newsagents. While the message is not one that is ideal, in my opinion, for the channel, the bigger problem is the branding. The N means nothing. There is no discipline associated with it, there are multiple versions. I suspect the majority of the 3,500 newsagencies in the channel do not use it. The ad is is not promoting something delivered with consistency. It has not been thought through.

Hi Mark do you think that more people associate newsxpress nextra newspower or lucky charm with newsagencies?

Andrew, perception with ‘N’ is boring old traditional newsagency which is dying and no young generations want to visit.

Andrew, for me the groups are less about crying out newsagent and more about what the group stands for. I can only speak as a newsXpress member but we offer a core range of standard products that make us recognisable as a newsXpress store. The “N” moniker cannot possible define what is in any newsagent as we are such a broadly varied business type. We don’t all do Tatts, nor stationery nor magazines on a large scale. I know of newsagents that don’t sell even sell greeting cards so I expect the groups do far more to define what is in their brand of newsagent than a national body ever could.

Andrew I think that a smart group will engage creatively to attract shoppers based on commercially valuable interests.

Attracting people to a business called a newsagents is not a smart move.

When you’re halfway across the country without a map, miles from home, it is more logical to pull out the Iphone and look up the nearest Hotel!
Don’t know what an Iphone is, you’re probably an ANF member.
