I urge QLD newsagents to please complete and return the membership application to Lottery Agents Queensland. LAQ is currently negotiating with Queensland Government officials, including Attorney General Yvette D’Ath, Golden Casket representatives, the shadow attorney general, the Katter party and other stakeholders to ensure a fairer deal for Queensland lottery agents.
Without membership support, LAQ will not have the weight to demand change. LAQ is the ONLY Queensland-based industry representative for lottery agents and holds ACCC authorisation. Without healthy membership, agents will have no voice on Queensland-specific issues.
Without LAQ intervention and representation, agents have no chance of better conditions.
It costs less than $1 a day to support the work of the LAQ. I think this is a good investment compared to investing money in the ANF.
I would strongly urge all QLD agents to join the LAQ……they are fighting for OUR future.

Andrew has a good point. What are they doing differently to the other mob and how long have they been doing doing it (ie why no tangible results to see so far ? )
100% focussed on QLD lottery agents whereas the ANF focus is national.
Far lower operating overheads.
Greater % of member fees spent on direct representation compared to the ANF.
QLD has had more tangible results over the years than any other state primarily due to the work of LAQ.
Andrew and Paul, that’s probably a fair question. The LAQ, as the name suggests, focuses purely on Lottery issues. The LAQ is in their fighting for QLD agents….a fight that I believe is about to get very tough. In the past the LAQ had a great rapport with Golden Casket and I believe that us Queenslanders probably had far better Lottery deals than other states but as we know we aren’t dealing with GC anymore……we are dealing with Tatts….an entirely different proposition altogether. I was fortunate enough this morning to have had a great discussion with an LAQ representative and whilst I will not share those details here publicly I know these guys are about to go into battle for me and every other QLD agent……but they need our support. It costs money to fight the big end of town but for about .79 cents per day can we afford not to support them? The alternative is to sit back and do nothing but if we do that then we can’t complain when we get screwed hey? Agents should do themselves a favour and at least pick up the phone and have a chat to the LAQ…….what harm can that do?

Allan that’s a very good call, I might phone them Monday. I always liked a good fight and someone who’s willing to stand up to the bully so that alone makes them sound better than the ANF ! 😉
