A blog on issues affecting Australia's newsagents, media and small business generally. More ...

Entry #1

This is the first entry in a what we hope will be a warts and all blog about life in a busy Australian Newsagency.

We’ve owned Forest Hill Newsagency since February 1996. It’s a very busy retail shop plus there is a home delivery round, loarge magazine distribution round and sub agents to manage.

We bought the business to gain first hand experience in running a newsagency – the software we write is for newsagencies.

Anyway, 9 years on and we’re still here and still learning.

You can see photos of our shop here.

    Mark,
Interesting site. Could we encourage newsagents to post a pic of their store presentation on a site with ease of doing so?
Maybe Newspower should do so to ensure their store identification is suitable.
Would like to have a situation where we have pics of many newsagencies?
A next stage could be some professional advice (free?…could generate some business)from an industry recognised shopfitter on how to improve the look of the store presentation for the newsagent to consider?
May need a seperate shopfitter from each State to allow for practacalities and local awareness such as lottery requirements.
Just some thoughts which your site has prompted.
    Regards, Ken M.
