Several newsagents have complained that the new arrangements not only take sales from their stores but are loss making in terms of labour cost. Newspaper publishers could achieve incremental sales if they treated newsagents as business partners, removed restrictive business rules and rewarded success. Incremental newspaper sales are available in newsagencies if the publishers want that.
