Newsagents support philanthropy through online classifieds

This is a poster we have emailed today to newsagents partnering in our Find It online classifieds business We’re asking them to print the poster and stick it on their window – after cutting between the tear off strips at the bottom.

Windows campaigns for the various Find It categories have been successful over the last three months. This latest poster connects with the philanthropic side of Find It – more than 60% of our categories will be free even after we start charging.

Okay, up until now you had my attention on this blog with at least an insight into the newsagency business… and we’ve all been able to sit through your countless promo posts for your businesses (even when you launched a “viral” campaign without obviously knowing what it takes for it to be viral) But I think you have overstepped the Mark with this one.

The other day you posted about the likes of Bill Gates hogging the philanthropy spotlight. Well at least Mr Gates doesn’t make up advertising flyers and pass them off as philanthropy.

Come on, you are clearly devising ways to popularise your business, like most do, but not many stoop this low.

Do you realise how many bigger free sites there are to trade items???? And your passing this flyer off as a big favour to the community? You can reply all the reasons in the world about your motives, but as you state frequently, you’re after the bottom-line safety net plan for you and your newsagent partners.

    Will,

Find It is my business sure enough. However, newsagents who have partnered with us receive 20% commission on prepaid ads, 5% on all ads places by people they bring to the site plus a 5% profit share – all this for no capital investment. I would have thought that was enough reason for newsagents to support the initiative.

In terms of the free community listings, they are free, no strings attached. Newsagents reminding people of this is nice. Other sites can pitch this too. Don;t shoot me down because I am suggesting promoting something free.

Through Find It newsagents get a share in online businesses. No other supplier is offering this.

    Mark
