Fat wedding magazine

wedding_bride.JPG

Take a look at the Wedding and Bride – it is four times the thickness of Australian Women’s Weekly. One more page and it would not squeeze into traditional newsagent magazine pockets. While it is an impressive publication, space allocation is a challenge in an already full wedding segment in newsagencies. We are playing with co-location next to our high traffic women’s titles for a week to see what happens. It is wedding season after all.

I was going to ask you about what happens with your wedding publications 🙂 FYI Wedding Season is from October to April in Australia :). May and September are shoulder and June-August off peak.

It is however peak in the USA!

A lot of proposals happen during the Christmas holiday period (and once brides get back to work after Christmas its down to business!)

As a retailer of a different product, I really enjoy your blog!

Thank you for your comments. I’m no expert on weddings actually. Someone yesterday mentioned it was the season here but come to think of it they are no expert on such things either!

S is right, it is not currently wedding season. But it is currently a heavy period for wedding planning.

A number of wedding magazines release their publications around this time of year … Typical australians, always leaving things till the last minute!

I know you’re far past this post..but I did think of something interesting- that magazine is the cheapest of all the wedding magazines at almost a third of the price of the others…odd that!

You’re right. Excellent value per page. We have pushed it hard this week without much success.

Unfortunately in my experience Mark I have found the problem is this magazine is almost purely adverts- first time brides go mad on buying every magazine and then seem to go for the content based ones (Cosmo bride, Real Weddings, Bride To Be) which contain more helpful hints than just photos of dresses and advertisements.

Apologies for the constant comments to you on this entry!

S, it is full of ads but my understanding from brides to be is that this is what they like. It’s like a print version of a wedding expo. Mark
