Proposed Supanews Federal Court action

To ensure proper management of funds, Macedone Christie Willis Solarie Partners, the lawyers representing Corie and Tammy Schwarzl – the Supanews franchisees who lost their business to Supanews without compensation – have established guidelines which will be available to any newsagent contributing to the costs of mounting a case. See this earlier post on the matter.

The prospect of Federal Court action is, I am told, causing some challenges within the Supanews Retail Group – the new business formed by the old Supanews (members of the Gaskin family), and the Pacific Equity Partners owned Angus and Robertson / Whitcoulls group. My understanding is that some senior A&R people are most concerned at the potential for damage to the reputation of their respected business. Franchisee disputes can become messy and personal.

Regardless of your view as to whether several Supanews franchisee stores have fallen over or been pushed, the Supanews model is challenged. The focus of a Federal Court case against Supanews by the Schwarzls will help various stakeholder focus their minds on the structure and its operations.

Donation to the fund can be made by direct contact with their lawyers.

I apologise for the delay in responding to your blog site but gaol can be a bitch sometimes.
I noted in one of your previous woman’s weekly hissy fits that you invited donations from other newsagents to assist in the legal costs of a dissaffected Supanews Franchisee whom you indicate is proposing a Federal Court action.
Did you bother to check if that litigation is in fact proceeding or is there some other avenue that the former franchisee may take.
I didn’t see any evidence of you seeking donations from other newagents to assist the Sydney newsagent who stands to lose his business as well as personal assets because of the fraudulent behaviour of a former employee who defrauded NSW Lotteries, leaving the owner liable.
Does your compassion only stretch to matters involving your Archille heel, Supanews?
Your biased reporting always gives me and the staff a good chuckle.

Your comments are based on assumptions which are wrong. My view on the Lotteries situation is clear from postings here. Since the matter is not over yet it would be premature to comment further.

Sorry you have confused me again. My comments are based purely upon your blog site assertions. Therefore is it fair to say your comments are founded upon assumption, hearsay and scurrilous mischief?
You appear quite ready to comment upon a matter that your infer may be listed before the Federal Court (no real evidence there, only assumptions)which is not over yet either, nor has it even started but you claim privilege in not commenting on the matter of the agent being sued by NSW Lotteries that I would have thought would invoke compassion from every newsagent to assist that agent to recoup any litigation fees.

Gary you;re spinning your wheels and jumping to a conclusion which is not supported by the facts. I was advised by a lawyer that action was pending for a federal Court matter – hence my post on that.

In terms of NSW lotteries, the matter is not over yet so to comment would be premature. I am happy to help any newsagent in difficulty.
