My partner’s niece has downloaded audio eBooks and purchased these for a lot less cost than the physical book. She says it’s great to be able to listen to the book being read to her while she walks or does other things.

On the other hand, my partner dislikes the ebooks and says you can’t beat good old fashioned reading. She thinks an eBook is a lazy man’s way to reading and the youth of today don’t do that enough now, without these ebooks giving them another excuse not to.

To me it’s another way that technology is helping us do more than one thing at a time and in such a busy world, that can be a good thing.

I think, as a generalisation, that e-books will attract a new market segment, rather than take away from the already existing market segment that purchase printed books.

I’ve been descibed before as a technology addict (a title i don’t deny) – even so I have to say that there is no way i would read a book in an electronic format nor listen to it being read.
