A new stationery channel

I got to see the new Harvey Norman Ofis business in Auburn (NSW) this morning. Here’s the view from the car park.

I’ll blog more about what I saw inside tomorrow.

I’d be thrilled if I owned the yellow sign.

OFIS stands for “Only For Idiot Shoppers”

Seriously, every move by large companies away from their core business is something i always like to keep track of with keen interest.

Wesfarmers is not going to let a single percentage of their OfficeWorks market share erode unless Australian shoppers feel like geting 4 years interest free on their A4 paper which is something they would stoop down to for cash strapped small business.

    Marco,

Officeworks may not want to loose market share – but the stationery market is very concentrated – so it may be inevidable.

It will be interesting to see if Officeworks and OFIS create much competition – or whether they will be too attached to the traditional margins of stationery.
