That’s Life takes off

Further to my post two days ago about promoting That’s Life magazine at the counter, sales are up 31%.  We will sell out by the weekend.  While we might have achieved a kick with a counter display, it is the lip gloss gift promoted in the counter display which is driving the sales.

This 31% increase in two days, compared to the previous six weeks for the same two days, is proof of the value of having the right space allocated at the counter, creating an appropriate feature display and building this around a magazine which offers real value.  While most titles we now pitch in this space achieve significant growth, the results for That’s Life are the best.

I hope newsagents are copying our approach in terms of displays and title choices.  Smart choices are delivering easy money.

We increased our first day sales average (based on 10 weeks) by 95%! Second day also was up, I love it when a plan comes together.

i let my subys take extras during the week .it is nothing but a headache . what they don’t sell in the first few days does not normally sell then i do my returns and send them back and when it comes time to making an increase becasue i sell out i get knocked back because of the returns.I do go and collect the magazines from the subbys when i do run out most of the times ,but then i am left with a paper trail and for what we get out of it from a subby it is not worth the hassle

Shaun, maybe it is time then that Gordon Gotch and NDD start to supply all stores direct and then Sub-Agents can start to make decent margin on magazines

Mr scott mate i was just plainly saying that you should not get extras and i am only talking about my experience .I don’t know your situation and i only can speak of my experiences with subbys , don’t write a comment if you don’t want people to reply unless they agree with you .i don’t know what your business is but lets just say you have a grocery store and you sell mags across the road from me , would you like it if i start selling grocerys as well ???not saying you should have no supply but it should just be a service that you offer not the main part of your business to rely on magazine . anyways that is my views feel free to comment back because unlike you i like to see other peoples views on the subjects that i comment on .
    cheers ….

just another note scott i sell bread on a sunday as a subby for one of the bakers in town ,i don’t sell for a profit i sell them as a SERVICE and it is only bread becasue i realise i am not a bakery and there is no need to take business from them selling cream buns cakes etc ……well and truely off topic i know …..

Shaun i understand where you are coming from, but i have a real issue with out of stocks because you dont just lose sales on the product that is empty but also on any add ons that customers would buy when they walk out of your store because you did not have what they came in for. also i dont fully blame newsagents for supply to sub-agents because i understand that gordon gotch and ndd fail to supply enough stock to newsagents, there problem is they look at your returns as a total and forget that they are for multiple sites

yep i agree with all of that . this is what i like about this blog we totally did not agree before and now we understand each others problems . i have called GG in the past about where the returns coome from and there attitude is go get them back off the subbys which yes is not a fair situation to be in . i agree with all of your points there
