Hatred and blog comments

It is disappointing that a few commenters at this blog spew hatred instead of rational comment.  The comments posted on Thursday evening by one person using seven different names served to make himself or herself look stupid and for readers to therefore disregard their view.

The purpose of my original post was to open a discussion about the future representation of newsagents on the national stage given the failure of the ANF.  That it deteriorated into the childish drivel it did does not hold much hope for the channel.

With around 1,500 visitors to this place each day including prospective newsagents and suppliers, I’d urge newsagents to take care with comments – unless you want our channel to look like a bunch schoolyard thugs who hate each other.

Mark, can you somehow block out the anons and Thomas T’s etc? Can we who use it properly provide you with mnore details so, at least you know exactly, who is commenting.

Many sites require you to register before being able to make a comment. Poor behaviour results in being banned.

Of course you can re register as someone else having been banned but it is time consuming and the trolls give it away eventually as it is not as amusing anymore.

I would prefer this site to be troll free while still embracing a wide range of views.

This is a most unfortunate situation. I believe that there should be robust discussion on all issues but as with most of these forums on the internet, anonymity rises itself to stupidity and baseless rubbish.

I’m sure that most who read can decipher the fact from the fiction. For those who are thinking of getting in I would say take the plunge. Your only limited by your work ethic and imagination. Ignore the rubbish as most of us are rational humans behind our real names here.

Adults keep telling us kids to grow up, yet many adults, especially in the Government, and obviously here behave worse than some of my younger cousins.

It is a sad state that society has come to.
