Collecting the combat tanks

combat_tanks_fhn.JPGWe had a customer on the weekend who purchased around ten copies of issue 1 of Combat Tanks Collection, removed the tanks and left the magazine and backing card for us to dispose of.  While I’m grateful for the business, it’s odd.  I’ve never seen this with a partwork before.

I saw this also and with others (Bond Cars and Star Wars). You will find the stock at the flea market on the weekend for $5.00 ea.

I’ve also seen this before. Professional market sellers. You wont see this customer back to buy future issues.

I asked an older gentleman as to why he was buying 5 of them from me and not wanting the magazine, apparently he plays some form of war games and this is a way of getting more tanks cheaply as all he now has to do is paint them. He was only interested in World War 2 and prior. He said he will be keeping an eye on the rest of the series for tanks of interest. This maybe another explanation.
