Doctor Who partwork slow

dr_who_partwork_2.JPGOur sales of the new Doctor Who partwork have been considerably slower than expected. Indeed, we have sold only 20% of what we expected to have sold by this point in the on-sale.

I am not sure why this is. We have the title displayed in-store in a prime location as well as at the front of the newsagency in a good display to attract passers-by. I’d be interested to know if TV support for Doctor Who is less than we usually see for part series.

I think it is partly to do with the fact that the ABC has done a good job of selling Doctor Who DVDs. Unlike other series, the DVDs have been constantly available.

On the TV commercial it has the ANF’s “N” down the bottom I noticed, FYI.

Andrew, I think your comment is spot on. We have an ABC Centre within our newsagency and the DR Who DVD’s fly out the door but these same customers are reluctant to pay $19.95 for only a few episodes when they can get the full DVD for $30. Maybe if they were $9.95 at full price they would sell better.

saw the ad for this and was wondering about the green and yellow “N” symbol. isn’t it old and outdated?

i haven’t seen any newsagencies near me use it. I only remember one newsagent having it, but thats if you’re heading out towards the country.
