New Idea is chunky this week with the free sachet from Master Foods recipe base. While I understand the preference of the advertiser, I’d prefer to give the gift away from behind the counter and thereby not damage the presentation of the magazine.
Like other newsagents I am sure, we have had to store half supplied stock in the back room.
i magazine per pocket gives no consideration to the Retailer.
This is an example of a brand sacrificing itself for the sake of some advertising dollars. Just as bad at those post-it ads on the front page of newspapers.

I’ll second that. I love the giveaway but not the untidy nature of my women’s magazine section.
If a counter unit was developed to hold the freebie away from the magazine this promotion would be very user friendly!
we don’t have those free sachet. phew!
we had the free sachet in NSW over 6 months ago…… it was a nightmare, but only for a week.
guess what sauce your all having over dinner next week, and the week after and the week after.
The sachet itself is a good value gift. The problem is how it is packaged with the magazine.
It’s a case of damned if you and damned if you don’t Doing it as they have ensures one is given away with every copy but at a cost. If they did put it behind the counter, less than half would be given away and the advertiser would not get their benefit.
Strange……10% of our supply had the free sachet in the magazine.
Why the inbalance I do not know.
THE IDEA GOOD BUT THE MAGS LOOK MESSY ON THE SHELF OURS ARE FLAT ON THE SHELF AND THEY KEEP SLIDING EVEYWHERE WE ALSO SEND THIS MAG TO SEVERAL OF OUR SUBS THEY DON’T HAVE THE ROOM SO LESS STOCK HAS GONE UP TO THEM.
