Newsagents are the go to places for people to collect their tax packs. This will drive good traffic over the next few weeks. While some will groan at people asking for tax packs and not buying anything, smart newsagents will seize the opportunity and tactically place products next to the tax packs.
- Use any wall behind to advertise a promotion.
- Use the space on either size to promote offers.
- Use the floor in front of the tack packs to promote.
- Look at the route shoppers will take to get to the tax packs – what can you place along the way.
- Make a coupon to give out to everyone asking for a tax pack – included a dated offer designed to lure them back.
What we make out of the tax packs is up to us.
Can anyone advise when the taxpacks will be instore? We received the new tax tables today but still no word on when the packs will arrive.
It is a good chance to showcase our businesses to customers that normally would not enter, so stack them high at the back of the shop and let them walk through to get them ( I understand last yr we were supposed to keep them behind the counter and give them out but for a freebie that isn’t going to happen)
Luke, tax packs received from NDD today (no idea why not all through GG), but are not supposed to be given out until tomorrow.
We received ours Saturday.
We do not have an NDD account, so I suppose we will not get the packs, great work from who ever to give taxpacks to a company that is going bell up.
Mark,
According to instructions in previous years, tax packs are supposed to be behind the counter and asked for, not on display
So where is the opportunity there?
chris, if you are following those instructions, you would be the only one. For zero commission it does not warrant anymore handling than what happens when it arrives with the mags, afte that its stacked on a shelf for customers to help themselves. Besides that, its hardly TOP SECRET, just a tax pack and there are millions of them out there
They won’t fit behind the counter so I have them in my stationery aisle. Have done for years. Customers are happy. I am happy. Good tip from mark about using them to drive business.
Rick, you receive $0.17 + GST for each Tax Pack. Tell your customers to take two incase they make a mistake…easy way to double your commission.
Still no tax packs here.
Since the ANF endorsed ALL newsagencies as the destinations for taxpacks, why have they not supplied those newsagencies that have not got an NDD account. We saw the writing on the wall about NDD yrs ago and refused to be a dumping ground for overseas crap so have not had account with them,
BUT I am a member of the ANF and am a newsagency so where are my taxpacks and who decided to go with a company that is closing it’s doors?
Good tips Mark. Thanks.
luke your still with the ANF, can i ask why you have remained a member after the poor performance of the ANF on several big issues lately. Noy trying to be a smart arse, just interested in your thinking on the subject
well looks like anyone that is with the qnf is now with anf anyway wether we like it or not . I quit the ANF to join the QNF some time ago but seems i am now with them again . i know it is supposed to be for the better but what has the anf done recently that would make any of us want to deal with them again .
I ask myself the same question Rick, call me nostalgic but I remember when we had national representation and a voice on the bigger picture and hope for that again.
If you are not a member of an association, any association then you cannot whinge about not having a voice on the issues. The QNF is great but by default you are also a member of the ANF.
im with the qnf yes, so now also with anf, see how that goes
It would be good if newsagent could be a “go to” destination for items like this.
In return newsagent could brand the “free this week” slot and charge suppliers to lodge material for number of weeks, with booking fee would be paid, and an per unit fee to pay newsagents as a retailer for the opportunity cost of the space in effect a gross margin. The newsagent then will have fair payment for their involvement(real esate, labour, opportunity cost), and also acrue or gain a year round benefit from store traffic who will learn to know the newsagent gives you something useful for free, year round.
Today it would cost the ATO $1.70 to mail out a tax pack, i think Newsagents should be paid more than 17 cents for their involvement. This could be way of upping the rent and gaining a year round benefit.
A strong industry body should have an initiaitive on their agenda to help newsagents like this.
Customers enquiring about a tax pack are incredulous that we have forms, but not the tax packs.
just tried to order more tax packs via NDD, no can do. looked at GG site and they said to try Network, tried there, cannot find Packs. This seems to be working well as usual. Anyone have any better Ideas please let me know, then apply to be Prime minister to fix it.
Hold the presses, just got message from NDD, Packs will be available from Network on Monday, see we do have a good system?????
May be a dumb question, but have we returned Tax Packs yet? And who to, Network and Gotcha do not have them on the screen.
