Australian Women’s Weekly wins Magazine of the year

The Australian Women’s Weekly from ACP magazines has been named Magazine of the Year at the second Australian Magazine Awards. Runner’s up were Better Homes and Gardens and Vogue AustraliaMasterChef won the launch of the year.

While I like the AWW sales volume and the changes they have made to the product, my choice of magazine of this year is Frankie.  This is based on sales growth, efficient sell through and the customers it attracts to my business.

Frankie is my largest growing teenage/older girl magazine for the “thinking girl” as opposed to Dolly, Girlfriend etc. I saw something on TV about Frankie – the young publisher does the work from her home to reduce overheads and it is an excellent magazine. I show it to all Dolly/GF customers and often get the add on sale.
    AWW has taken a huge
nosedive in my store and I was amazed that it won the prize. My top selling magazine is SA Life which is a niche South Australian publication which has taken over the top spot here.

    June,

I was also suprised at the AWW win. Sales have not been trending well here either. The publication’s target audience is aging and they seem to be loosing sales to more modern lifestyle publications such as BH&G.
