Helping others raise flood relief funds

qld-floods.pngTower Systems created artwork for its retail customers and any other retailers to use in encouraging their customers to donate to the Queensland Premier’s Flood relief Appeal. This free artwork is available here. Feel free to use the artwork and share it with others. Every dollar helps.

We have been raising funds in our own newsagencies for several days with tremendous success. We have had customers dropping in coins from change while others have tipped in $20 or $30 from lottery ticket winnings. Most heartwarming indeed.

With Victoria now suffering sever flooding as well, we are hearing plenty of customers stating that they want to help fellow Victiorians first.
It would be great if the funds collected to date could be managed and distributed on a national basis for all areas affected by these floods rather than a divisive state by state basis. While acknowledging tha QLD has copped the brunt of the floods it in now a national disaster.

it is quite funny that your customers are saying that they want to help out fellow victorians first but then want a piece of qld money . I do agree it now is aus wide
problem and all monies should be distributed that way . Then it all get a bit complicated after that with each state doing there own thing

They are not saying they want QLD money at all Shaun.
My point is that our customers have x amount to give and considering the broad nature of these floods, monies they have donated to date should be used on an equally broad basis over the country.

I was asked the other day if I had a permit to collect change. No, I don’t! If I applied and waited for a response the rush of goodwill people feel now would be over. Strike while the iron is hot I say. Besides if people don’t trust that I’m going to send the money to the right place they don’t have to donate money. Simple as that.

We have deposited $375 already collected and will do another deposit either tomorrow or Monday.

We did the exact same thing for the fires. We’re transparent by showing deposit receipts.

We’ve found that we’ve collected far less than we did for the fires. We took hundreds and hundreds back then, but this time we’d be lucky to collect $100 by week’s end. Only $75 deposited so far, and that was with us matching 50%
