Leveraging Magda Szubanski cover girl

mag-aww-apr11.JPGWe are promoting the latest issue of the Australian Women’s Weekly with this aisle end display facing onto the dance floor.  Hopefully, Magda Szubanski can do what Anna Bligh did not for AWW. I expected a good lift in sales from the Anna Bligh cover story last month but it did not materialise – certainly not in my stores. Magda’s story is popular and will hopefully resonate with customers.

Until 2 weeks ago I wondered about the value of mini cookbook add-ons such as the one included with AWW, but during the Mercury’s mini-cookbook promotion (10 @ $2.50 each after the initial free book), I have made almost daily calls for extra supplies of both cookbooks and papers. It’s been by far the most successful newspaper promotion over the past three years.

Sold out all AWW in 3 hours yesterday. Womans Day (with picture of Elizabeth Taylor) sold out 2 hours later. Looking forward to royal wedding sales.

We sold out of AWW on Wed and have to wait until tomorrow to get the other 1/2 of our delivery. This split delivery give me the Sh#$ts, if they expect a huge increase in sales then give me stock so I can cash in, I hate people saying they will get it at Coles because I cannot get my full allocation on the onsale date.

Split deliveries for agents with subbies should be a 2/3 1/3 split
