Well, won’t she slide up their corporate ladder with that little gem?
You go, girl. Rupey loves ya, Baby.

How typical of today’s young “gurus’ who only care about themselves and no-one else. A whole
industry depends on mags for survival Amanda, just in case you didn’t know. What irks me the most is that you come from within that industry yourself. Maybe the digital age might catch up with you as well.

She could also say “Don’t buy the Australian, read free media articles online”

Now for the back peddle from Twitter – “I didn’t say don’t buy one! I said look at the covers here” (aust website)

If I were her Boss, i would of asked her if she knows where her wages come from.
I may just keep my Australian of the shelf for a week.

Seriously guys? She was telling people to go to the Australian’s website to browse pictures of FRONT PAGES regarding the royal weeding from around the WORLD. Not to read the whole bloody paper online. Don’t worry, people still bought the paper for the event. Build a bridge…

So there will be an explanation on twitter of her poor choice of wording, and maybe even an apology to the business ppl who work their butts off 7 days a week to help keep her in a job.
Nial, “Don’t go to the newsagent” was a poor choice of words.

One would think that she has a boss who would need to vet anything these writers put out under the ‘Australian’ masthead. To me that individual should carry the can, not the amateur writer.

Nial, Newsagents are getting a little sick of building the bridges that people with comments like that continue to burn.

Nial, I think she was more likely telling people not to bother buying magazines.

seriously NIAL ? if all she wanted was for people to go to the Australian’s website……she could have just said “check out our royal wedding gallery @……..”
why say “don’t go to newsagents” do we only sell magazines/papers? NO. we sell other things as well…..so why say that.
Dear newsagents, I am sorry my tweet has caused so much distress. A colleague asked me to tweet her gallery of royal wedding covers she had created. My idea was to invite people to browse the covers on our website, not to tell them not to buy one at a newsagent. Please accept my assurance it was an honest mistake that was clearly misinterpreted. Cheers, Amanda Meade
Im sure one can find plenty of “mature” writers with poor attitude as well.
A thoughtless tweet from Amanda. Nonetheless I’m confident it wasn’t her intention to burn bridges with newsagents. Id say the comment was simply a reflection of the type of people following her on Twitter (that is those already far less likely to purchase a newspaper). She was simply advertising to this audience and didn’t think of how it looked in the eyes of the publication’s retail partners.
I just saw June’s comment and for the record I am 49! Not sure if that qualifies as young but I’m certainly not a guru.

Good onya Amanda for stepping up here.
I am curious to know if you will be place a brief explanation on Twitter of what was actually intended in that original post.
Amanda, I am 65 so you are only a “whipper snapper” (old lady language for young).
However, it was brave of you to answer our comments.
Newsagents have been getting a raw deal for some time and it has made us all a little sensitive.

I happen to know Amanda and her day doesnt start until she’s read practically every daily PRINTED edition of newspapers and magazines available, and they all come from local newsagents…..it was totally taken the wrong way.
i hope she gets fired.
