Tapping into One Direction and Justin Bieber fans

We are promoting the Total Girl Star Awards Poster Book with a double half-waterfall facing in our teen and tween magazine section. The target age group has money to spend on products like this – you only have to see the magazines the buy and the shows they purchase tickets too. The key is getting the title in front of them.

Too often we look at a title like this as nothing special, probably because we don;t understand its appeal to the target audience. Get it in the first place for young firms to see and it’s sure to sell. It’s also a good product to mention to parents and grandparents who may be looking for gift ideas.

I went into a newsagent yesterday with my daughter to buy this. My daughter asked at the counter and was told they had none and didn’t get any. 3 minutes later I found 5 in the kids section.
Very bad knowledge of their business.

And people wonder when I say that the newsagency shingle has little value. Dreadful.

Not sticking up for either party involved and I am not to sure how much time you spend on the shop floor mark but a lot of the time when someone comes to the counter asking for something and what they actually mean are to different things . I got asked for a cook book the other day that could have been anything from jamie Oliver to mkr ,after an 10 min of going through every cook book it ended up being BHG all they insisted was that it is on tv and hey we should know every recipe in every book .
Hey just an example that not every thing is easy to find or easy to interpret.

Shauns – In my case, my daughter brought in her latest edition of Total Girl and showed them the ad for the poster book.

Fair enough Niall i was just giving an example of some of the things i get asked for and how we sometimes have to work out what the customer wants but in this case different story

I just typed Star Awards into the advanced search feature of Tower and it shows I have 8 copies in store, Very easy, very fast and accurate. Only laziness stops us doing this for any title except the ones such as Shaun points out are simply way to vague to pin point.

Brendan we do the same here with great success except when it comes to titles that start with “Australian”…….is it Aus, Aust, Australian……who knows !!!! LOL

    Cheers

It’s a better of using IT to ensure that all team members can answer questions quickly.
