Promoting the VTAC guide

Another of my stores is promoting the VTAC guide at the counter. Since shoppers don’t come in looking for the title we figured we needed to place it where they could easily add it to the purchase. Our plan is to give it two weeks here and in this time move a chunk of the stock we have received. We have achieved a 28% sell through in the last week.  As I noted previously, the guide looks good this year, visually attractive.

People don’t come in looking for VTAC guide? Are you serious!
The only time I have been to a newsagent in the last 12 months was for a VTAC guide.
The price scanned at the register was the 2011 price. Wrong: the price dropped this year.
What I did notice was the clearly evident detrius from the newspaper wrapping exercise from that morning, and the scruffy owner and shop.
Too many newsagents feel like death, it feels like the last days of SSW Foodmaster and Tuckerbag.
No wonder the closest 3 newsagents to me in and around St Kilda and Caulfield have closed lately.
