Newspaper page one story cover-up fiasco

The lead news story in the Herald Sun today has been covered up on some copies of the newspaper by an ad for Woolworths stuck over editorial content. Removing the sticker will damage some copies.

I’d call this a fiasco. It must also frustrate the editorial team when this happens.

They’re called popups Brendan – and they are equally, if not more, annoying than sticky-note advertisments.

Or they could use some form of scripts that layer an advertisment over content.

I’ve seen major news websites do both. Only goes to show how little they know about the medium.
