Bit late to say Merry Xmas, but I do hope all newsagents enjoyed their day at home, hopefully with a sleep in and some quiet time with family and friends. I have barely anything left to mark down as a “Sale” item, feel good about that.
Onward and upward in 2013 !

ditto – we have had two days off and it feels good (a few more would have been perfect). Back on deck with very little left for the “sale”.
Happy 2013 everyone – we hope that our
industry flourishes even if it is in a different format from what we have been used to.
    Drive safely everyone

My senior gal had a brainwave today re some of our leftover items ( 50 shades of Grey Game, and Simsons and Spics and Specs Trivia boxes – add in some kids game packs, Canasta and Playing cards)and made a New Years Eve display – “Games for All To Play” !!
Had a VERY interesting discussion with a customer this morning looking for the print defunct “Inspirations” magazine ( now on-line only sadly?) – about the resurgence of sewing classes in high schools (some), due to demand – kids want to learn skills that their parents can’t teach them (but their grandparents possibly could !) ie using a sewing machine, baking a Christmas cake and decorating it, sharpening a knife, building a piece of furniture. Yes you can learn all this on the internet but it STICKS when you learn it from a human teacher of some kind ( mum, dad, admired teacher, grandpa etc ) and get given a book or magazine or manual or text as a follow-up. When you like stuff, you KEEP the artifacts (just talk to crafty people about their book and magazine collections !!). I have not felt so positive about my magazine range for ages, roll on 2013.
