We are considering expanding the range of comics in one of my newsagencies and would appreciate feedback from others on the most successful titles for you.
No comics at all , they do not sell , but tend to be a great read in the shop

Dc and Marvel – lots when we have a regular comic fanatic, other times just a few Phantom.

The Phantom the only thing I can sell the distributors send lots of others (Simpsons,Scooby doo, Sonic the hedgehog even Archie which I thought would be dead by now) at the end of the day there are a few die hard Phantom fans and thats about it.

Phantom and that’s it.
I thought all of the DC comics were going back to a direct only supply arrangement with the importer ? Unless you’re running a specialist comic shop (that draws the niche crowd) I wouldn’t think that a few dozen comics will have the pull to really make themselves worthwhile. Interestingly too the specialist comic retailers get MUCH better margins on their supply than we do through the existing distributors.
Brett, that is absolutely brilliant. My local newsagency keeps them in the kids sections and even though I’d love to buy a comic or two (particularly Spiderman) I feel stupid standing in the kids section with pokemon and other bright sparkly things around me.
I’m a fairly typical, 29 year old guy. I don’t own / work in a newsagency but would love to buy comics. My friends and I all watch Hollywood superhero movies and all talk about the comics we used to read or would love to read. They just need to be located somewhere where we don’t feel foolish buying them.
An additional thought… why not put some of the superhero comics like Batman & Spiderman near the movie magazines like Empire? They’re hot Hollywood movies that get promoted everywhere so why not try to grab some comic sales while people are browsing movie mags?
