Friday magazine deliveries gone in six months?

Following my post last week about OK! moving to a Monday on-sale, a couple of people who I’d expect to know about such things have advised that they expect Friday magazine deliveries to have ceased altogether within six months.

This will create a challenge for filling missed deliveries and other orders in a timely manner. Friday is a good catch up day for weekend trade opportunities.

    Won`t miss Friday deliveries.
2 magazines delivery days only would suit me fine.
With the t2020 and mags only 2 days per week.
Early mornings will become a thing of the past.

    Same thoughts here ACT.

It should mean more time to do things such as generate sales and grow the business and less wages to cover. Now if only if it would also mean the oversupply would stop on the two days that they will arrive we’d be onto a winner !

Over here in the west our weeklies -NI,WD ect arrive Monday already so Friday delivery is no great loss.
Heads up to anyone who doesn’t read all their emails, there was one from G&G this morning saying returns have to be completed by 1pm (Sydney time)on Wed 30/1/13 to be credited this month. Thats the second last day of the month not the last. Don’t know why the change but prepare to be drowned in mags on next Wednesday.

Please with this because ours arrive Saturday morning. Will make Saturday easier. No really big sellers arrive Sat anyway.

I actually like that there’s new mags out on Fridays. I process them myself so maybe it’s different for me and my little store, but the shelves are a little more refreshed 3 times a week and I like that.
I understand there are cost savings for distributors in increasing distribution volume over fewer days, but how long will it be before we find ourselves loaded up with all of our magazine stock delivered on just one day per week?
