Sunday newsagency marketing tip: wear a product you are promoting

Choose an item you want to sell and get one or two staff to wear it with a sign … sticky tape, a stapler, a new pens, a new magazine. Since staff don’t usually wear products, the product should be noticed and, hopefully, purchased.

This is a crazy idea. I can’t think of anyone who would try it. I doubt I would. And that’s the reason to try – because it is so crazy. What’s the worst that can happen? – customers will laugh. And the best? They buy the product.

NB. Do not wear any pointy, sharp or spring loaded products. It is also recommended that all staples be removed prior to use.

We did this for Feast Magazine last year. Myself and some staff members wore the A4 POS signs hung around our necks. Customers thought we had all lost the plot but they had a good laugh at our expense. It was a bit of fun and actually got customers talking about a Magazine that they might not have otherwise known about. From memory we won 20000 connections points also. I have not honestly thought about doing this type of promo for an everyday item though……after seeing your post today Mark my staff might be in for a BIG surprise this week…..

Something different will always get a result, mostly good, and those are what you are chasing, the good results. Stagnate and you won’t sell anything.
Who’s gonna be first to post a pic of a true selling staff member ?
