    Very interesting but I am confused.

    I think of the ABC and SBS being “government owned” here in Oz, but they don’t run any newspapers.
    We don’t have any public ie govt owned social media of which I am aware.
    So are all media “a public trust” or only newspapers?

    My understanding is that that media plays an important role in our political system and it is this function that makes them a “public trust”.

    The slogan might be really old, or just a touch of marketing applied to the sentiment.
