News Limited thinks newspaper headlines don’t work

In covering the headline of the front page story on the Herald Sun newspaper News Limited is demonstrating that it thinks headlines don’t sell newspapers. What else can we think?

Since this promotion is about reducing our sales we will remove the stuck on ad. This should also help drive sales by showing off the headline as it was intended to be.

Watched a fascinating documentary on the NY Times last week. If such a venerable bastion of quality journalism such as this is struggling for its very survival what hope is there for the Herald Sun.

I think stickers over headlines are the least of its problems. The latest newspaper audit show drops of close to 10% compared with the same time last year.

Another example of their complete disregard for their readers. My customers continually complain about this procedure.
Of course, we as newsagents have to bear the brunt of complaints and negative feedback as we are the ones at the ‘coalface’ whilst the corporate suits pander to the shareholders. Get out of your ‘ivory towers’ and spend a few weeks in the real world.
