Looking forward to Batman Automobilia partwork

I’m fortunate to have been sent the first tow issues of the new Batman Automobilia partwork due for launch on Monday June 17 from Gordon & Gotch. part two is the car from the 1970s TV series.

I had this car when it first came out so I understand the nostalgia value. The Batman movies also make the series compelling for the current generation beyond nostalgia.

The national TV campaign should drive excellent sales for us.

I have spoken with Gotch about allocation and the need for them to accept initial order allocation requests from newsagents. They say they can’t do this.  I have stressed that they should. Proactive newsagents will usually want more and Gotch should find a way to accept and work with this – the result should be more sales.

The other challenge for us for this part series will display given the cars stuck to the front of the product. Our plan is to create a space toward the counter where the cars are the hero.

Happy someone is, as all partworks make me nervous.

Pocket watches. Not getting enought for putaways.

    So whats new

If Gotch accepted initial allocation orders before the product was shipped to them, there is no reason this should be a problem.

Allocations for each issue after the first, while set in advance, should be re-calculated (taking into account what stock is available) based on the agents sales/returns and the number of putaways they have (which should be given priority allocation).

Why they don’t do this baffles me. It only hurts their long term distribution numbers of the title.

I also had a “batman” car sent to me but
guess what? It isn’t a car exactly.
It just sits on a base (as a collector piece)
so parents are going to be miffed if they
buy it and the child is upset because it isn’t the car they thought it was (and you
don’t know that by looking at it – you have
to pull the unit to pieces to find that out.
It will aggravate many more than it will please.

We now have 15 partworks going and knitting is coming soon.
It is well nigh impossible to show them to advantage. Surely they should be distributed at intervals rather than altogether.
This morning we got Barbie. It is huge
and takes up the whole part series section of my shop which disadvantages the other
    part series.
I wish the publishers would connect more with us so that we could give them our feedback (and pigs might fly!!!!!!)
June you’re very negative today – must be the late night last night.
