Former madison editor speaks out

Newsagents may find the column in The Daily Telegraph penned by Lizzie Renkert, former editor of madison for Bauer, interesting reading. It talks about giving everything and then some to the company and the magazine, the feeling of being cast aside and opportunities outside.

A very good mate of mine was Editor of The Courier Mail until about 2 weeks ago. Having just achieved the 2nd highest level on his employment report and with no negative correspondence from his CEO’s, he was called into the office and told that News Ltd were heading in a new direction and his employment would be terminated immediately. Married with 3 children under 7 and a mortgage, ‘immediate termination’ is not a great feeling.
Reading Lizzie Renkert’s story was exactly the same way he went about his job – giving 110% each day, sleeping in the office during the Brisbane Floods and coping with budget and staff cuts to deliver a product that he was proud of.
He is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead and is grateful for the opportunity that was given to him.
As Lizzie said ‘After all, it’s how you deal with difficult situations that show your true character’. They both have certainly shown that.
