Debate in UK over raunchy magazines

Convenience Store in the UK is facilitating a debate about whether newsagents should display soft porn magazines – called lads mags. There is a difference between what independent retailers do and would do compared to national groups. This is similar to Australia with how we handle, for example, Zoo compared to 7-Eleven and the major supermarket chains.

The debate is ridiculous. It’s censorship with no logical basis.

“Tesco also entered the fray with a commitment to cover titles, and a new policy of not selling lads mags to under 18s.”

I’d note that this policy would be illegal in Australia under anti-discrimination law. I’m surprised that it is legal in the UK.

I think everyone is becoming a little to precious.
I saw nothing wrong with abbots sex appeal comment, yet everyone is getting on their high horse over it. maybe they should ask the woman involved if she had an issue with the comment, somehow I doubt it, I bet she was chuffed that a budgie smuggling wearing pm to be thought she was a little bit sexy, what woman doesn’t want to be told that?

Rick I think Tony Abbot has been told by his “keepers” to encourage????? the women voters and his way of doing it is
to wave his daughters around and kiss a
    woman here and there.
I feel a bit sorry for him because he is so obviously uncomfortable with women (apart from his own family) and it shows.
Having said that why does he have to do all this roadshow stuff when all we want is
for the country to be doing better and he
will be in the prime position to handle change should he get the coveted position.
I just hope he understands that this is a
secular government (women have a lot of
trouble coping with his religious background which is sometimes the basis
    for his decision making)
Having said that I don’t think the average woman would be upset with him for calling
her a woman with “sex appeal”.
