Hard to remove sticker damages The Daily Telegraph

The sticker on the front of The Daily Telegraph newspaper today advertising a print and digital subscription was impossible to remove without damaging the front page. If this is their plan, to use a stronger adhesive, they will alienate even more customers.

My husband commented on this for the first time ever this morning saying it must really annoy our retail subs.
But could it be because his beloved Manly team members faceis covered? 🙂

Even though we do both I’d prefer to display brochures in my shop than have these stickers on the front page. That way no one gets upset and we can still advertise for home delivery.

As a matter of interest did any one outside of Sydney metro get the ships poster today?
We didn’t and so many of our customers both retail and home delivery were not happy missing out.

Yup, had to refund a couple, and regular Tele buyers really annoyed. I pointed out they did get a free sticker tho….

Jenny, from what I was told it was only metro areas getting the poster.

If this is a considered move by News I expect it to backfire. Customers hate these stickers enough already.

Further to the Fleet Review, Gotch mag Navy (code 17419) has a nice cover, I popped mine up next to Best Bets this morning and have sold 2 out of 4 so far.
I think it could have been a winner yesterday if the Telegraph had enough
consideratioin for its customers to send each agent 5 posters, we had some disapointed folk come in looking for them. It is rude to think that only Metro NSW would be interested. Yesterday I heard on the radio that one of our big ships was being “driven” by a 21 yr old lass from Coonabarrabran – these are the kind of snippets that get people wanting to buy a paper.

The stickers were on all the Teles, but the advertised Navy Poster only went to Metro.
Thousands of angry country readers did not get the Navy poster but the got the special price stickers – good one Tele

Gregg, my staff found that out when they phoned the Tele (10 mins to get thru!).
If it’s advertised on the front page it should be inserted into EVERY copy not just metro. We are a bit over an hour from Jervis Bay and all week the local radio has been talking about the ships and where to go to see them.
People from our area would also make the trip to Sydney for this event.
Silly mistake Telegraph! Now you have to post them out to all the customers that will phone for a copy.

    Yeah, sure they will Jenny………..LOL
The clowns sitting at a desk somewhere have no idea, but they will probably get a bonus for a stooopid marketing concept.

Is there any indication that these ‘front page rippers’ actually achieve a positive result ?
